Luna Park Sydney
Milsons Point, New South Wales, Australia
“The views while riding that Wild Mouse are hard to beat”
Let’s play a little game. What’s the first thing on your mind when I mention Sydney? I’ll make a guess. Were you thinking about the Sydney Opera House? This iconic building is one of Sydney’s most impressive sights. Its bright white roof is stunning and the views are complemented by Sydney Harbour Bridge, which is almost as famous as the Opera House. But did you know that Sydney is also home to a small-sized amusement park? And did you know that it’s actually within walking distance from the Opera House and the Bridge? Welcome to Luna Park Sydney.
ROLLER COASTERS
Luna Park isn’t the local version of Cedar Point or Six Flags, as it features only one roller coaster. That’s a legendary roller coaster, though. Wild Mouse is the world’s only remaining wooden wild mouse and it provides great fun. The ride is fast, unpredictable and it feels considerably more intense than you’d expect. It’s a shame that Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Aussie World have removed their versions…
ANYTHING ELSE?
Fans of classic fairground rides will be thrilled at Luna Park Sydney. The park is home to many flat rides and most of them look rather old. We’re not interested in those attractions, but we definitely want to pay a visit to Coney Island, the park’s fun house. It’s huge, it’s beautiful and it delivers a pretty fun experience.
WORTH A VISIT?
Yes and no. No because you obviously shouldn’t book a flight to Australia especially for Luna Park. Yes because this park is easy to combine with a stay in Sydney. The city provides great shopping opportunities, awesome nightlife and many beautiful sights. You actually can’t travel Down Under without stopping in Sydney. And if you’re here, I would definitely recommend a visit to Luna Park. A ride on Wild Mouse is a must for every coaster enthusiast. Besides, the park is working on a major expansion. Two new coasters – including a single rail coaster by Intamin – are scheduled to open in 2021.
